Synopsis, as per the first volume

At school, Hinana is an honours student, respected by all her classmates. She’s totally above things as juvenile as crushes and dating. Secretly, though, she has but one wish: To have a fairy-tale romance. One day, a super-hot celebrity named Kaede shows up at Hinana’s high school to shoot a movie, and it becomes difficult to keep up her act. By pure chance – or y’know, fate! – Kaede reveals his own ridiculous personality to Hinana, and her ordinary life turns breathtakingly romantic! Or just, really, really… weird?!

My thoughts, in more detail

The ML, Kaede

He was actually a butt alien, from planet butt

Hinana

He, in my humble opinion, sucks. His only personality trait is that he likes butts. Really. Even though he is 24, he starts a relationship with a high school girl who can’t be more than 16. What drew his attention to her? He saw her underwear when she fell down. To put it nicely he’s a socially awkward pedo, I guess?

What I assume will grow to a bigger storyline, starts off with the fact that he was booted from a mega-popular boy group. I wonder why if he is going out and doing things like openly checking out mannequins bums, and buying, and showing off, inappropriate figurines. Exactly how’d he get famous in the first place? What exactly is the appeal?

In terms of male leads, he’s a -10/10

The FL, Hinana

And that is the kind of life I lead, where everyone showers me with high praise. That’s also the reason I keep a modest little secret to myself. The truth is…I fantasize about…dating hot boys.

Hinana

Hinana honestly isn’t much better than Kaede, but she at least has the excuse of being a literal child. She claims to want a fairy-tale romance, but is only interested in extremely handsome men. It seems really the only thing that matters to her whatsoever, is who the most handsome guy is.

Although she is described as an honour student (who also collaborates with the student council by the way!), she comes off as surprisingly stupid quite often. To start, she willingly goes to this strange mans house after meeting him in public two times. Just because someone is famous, doesn’t mean they’re a good person..(as this story goes to show).

I would just like to mention one more time that while he is 24, she can’t be any older than 16…

Will I be continuing this story?

No.

Final thoughts

Typically I like to only read my manga in Japanese, but I saw this at a book store and decided to grab it on a whim. This story is just really not my cup of tea unfortunately. While it’s meant to be funny, the humour just doesn’t hit for me. While it’s meant to be romantic, I can’t help but cringe every time I see Kaede.

It’s a shame because I have read and enjoyed other series’ created by this manga artist.
